PTSD-Informed Marriage and Family Therapy

At the Atlanta Center for EMDR, we recognize that trauma does not exist in isolation—it impacts the entire family system. Many individuals living with PTSD experience changes in trust, communication, and emotional connection that deeply affect their partners and loved ones. For this reason, we offer PTSD-informed Marriage and Family Therapy as an extension of our EMDR services.

In alignment with recommendations from the Gottman Institute, we believe that trauma-focused therapy and relationship therapy work best when they are paired. Addressing both the individual and relational effects of trauma allows couples and families to rebuild safety, understanding, and connection together.

Our clinic understands that one of the most common and problematic issues with PTSD is that it can significantly impact important relationships.

Our PTSD-informed marriage and family sessions integrate EMDR principles with evidence-based relationship approaches, helping clients:

  • Improve emotional regulation and communication

  • Rebuild trust and intimacy after trauma

  • Strengthen family resilience and mutual support

Session rates are the same as standard EMDR therapy.
This service can be scheduled alongside individual EMDR sessions or as a stand-alone form of family support.

In partnership with Greater Atlanta Family Counseling, we also offer Intensive Family Therapy.
